These are Cream Cheese Spritz

2½ cups all purpose flour
1 cup butter (room temperature)
3 ounces cream cheese (room temperature)
1 cup white sugar
1 large egg yolk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon almond extract
Beat the butter, cream cheese and sugar until it is light and fluffy (about 3 or 4 minutes). Beat in egg yolk and extracts. Add flour ½ cup at a time until well blended. Dough will be quite stiff.
Roll dough into logs and place in your cookie press (follow cookie press directions). If you do not have a cookie press, just roll them into 1" balls and flatten with a fork or the bottom of a glass dipped in sugar. Bake cookies at 375 for 10 to 12 minutes.
If you want to decorate these cookies for the holidays, you can brush a very small amount of egg white on each cookie and cover them with sprinkles. You can also press a small piece of maraschino cherry into the center of each cookie.

I am ashamed to say my mom had a spritzer and I never used it and have no idea who has it now! I think it probably went to the thrift store...Actually, my mom never used it, either...
these look just delightful, a fun holiday cookie!
You know I only make spritz cookies during the holiday season and I don't know why because they are great to eat at any time of the year!
Elegant and yummy sounding cookies!
I make these around Christmas. They are fun to make and I agree, very easy!
Wow, memories, I made those when I was first married one Christmas and I have not made them since!
I have one of those spirtz cookie thingies and have never used it. Guess it's time to dust it off and put it to work.
I used cookie press for the first time last Christmas and had a heck of a time with spritz cookies. It was totally my fault though because I read the recipe wrong and doubled the butter. I tried to fix it but didn't succeed.
I'll have to give it another try this year!
I love a spritz cookies and need to invest in a gun. I want the pretty shapes! What brand do you have and would you recommend it?
